Message from the Chief

District Board and Community Members,
In 2024, the District completed several major accomplishments. The District completed construction in April of the new 6,500 square foot equipment and apparatus storage facility at the Station 3 location. Beginning April 2, 2024, we terminated a long-term agreement and ALS transport relationship with GMR Ambulance Service, formerly known as Banner and Weld County Paramedics, to enter into a three-year agreement with Platte Valley Ambulance Service for advanced life support care and transport. We purchased at a cost of $650,000.00, fifty new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus units (SCBA) from MSA to replace our previous 12-year-old Scott Packs. We also purchased a set of Tec Gen light duty rescue gear for all staff. The District provided over four hundred hours of leadership training to ten firefighters over the calendar year through Redline Leadership. In April, we also took delivery of the District’s new 100-foot mid-mount Pierce tower. The cost of the apparatus with equipment was $1.8 million. Four firefighters were able to attend the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis. Reliant Heating removed the old HVAC system and replaced the entire system at Fire Station 2. It was over 20 years old and began to fail. We again conducted several significant training courses on site that included a 40-hour rope rescue technician course, Firefighter II Academy, and multiple mutual/auto aid drills and training with neighboring fire department partners. We promoted Lieutenant James Mayor to Training Captain and the current Training Lieutenant Ryan Pfeiffer was laterally transferred to Shift Lieutenant. We promoted three Engineers and two additional Shift Lieutenants to fill all our promotional positions. A lot accomplished in a year!
I want to thank our amazing staff and the District Board for their outstanding work and support in 2024!
Respectfully Submitted,
Phil Tiffany
Fire Chief
